The Enchanting Sri Lanka expedition is a 13-day sensory journey designed to capture the most magical and “humanized” moments of the island. Engineered for those who want a balanced “flow” between high-energy exploration and deep “stillness,” this itinerary weaves through the emerald tea highlands, the sacred ancient cities, and the sophisticated southern coast. From the sunrise glow atop the Sigiriya Rock Fortress to the rhythmic pulse of the highland train and the colonial elegance of Galle Fort, every day is a high-fidelity encounter with the island’s soul. Day 01 - Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport / Sunset walk along Negombo beach / Lagoon boat ride through mangroves / Seafood welcome dinner by the beach

Your journey begins with a gentle introduction to island life in Negombo, a coastal town. We’ll take a quiet boat ride through the ancient mangroves of the lagoon, watching the local fishermen at work. As the sun dips below the horizon, enjoy a fresh seafood dinner right on the sand—a perfect, flavourful start.

Day 02 - Transfer to Anuradhapura / Explore Anuradhapura Ancient City by Bicycles / Sunset visit to Sri Maha Bodhi Tree and/or Ruwanweliseya / Cultural Storytelling session with guide

We head into the heart of the Cultural Triangle to the island’s first capital. We’ll explore the vast sacred city on bicycles, feeling the breeze as we move between massive stupas. As evening falls, we visit the sacred Bodhi tree for a moment of reflection, followed by a storytelling session where your guide brings ancient legends to life.

Day 03 - Transfer to Polonnaruwa / Dambulla / Explore Polonnaruwa Ancient City by Bicycles / Evening explore Dambulla Cave Temple / Evening visit to a local handicraft workshop

Today, we ride through the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa, discovering royal palaces and giant stone carvings. Later, we retreat into the cool, quiet chambers of the Dambulla Cave Temple to admire its golden statues. We finish the day at a local workshop, connecting with artisans who keep our traditional crafts alive.

Day 04 - Transfer to Kandy / Explore the Sacred City of Kandy, including the Temple of the Tooth Relic / Night walk around the Kandy Lake

We climb into the mist-covered hills to reach Kandy, the last royal stronghold. After visiting the sacred Temple of the Tooth, we enjoy a peaceful night walk around the lake, where the city lights reflect off the water, and the air feels crisp and still.

Day 05 - Explore Knuckles Mountain Range / Spending time with nature. Leave the city behind for a day of pure wilderness in the Knuckles Mountain Range.

We’ll trek through hidden valleys and cloud forests, discovering waterfalls and viewpoints that few travellers ever see. It is a day of stillness designed to let you breathe and bond with nature.

Day 06 - Transfer to Nuwara Eliya (En-route sightseeing of Ramboda Waterfall, visit a Tea Factory / Enjoy the Tea Plucking Experience)

The road winds upward past the thundering Ramboda Waterfall toward the “City of Lights.” We’ll stop at a tea estate where you can join the pickers in the fields, learning the delicate art of harvesting the “two leaves and a bud.” It’s a hands-on experience that connects you to our highland heritage.

Day 07 - Nuwara Eliya (Morning visit Horton Plains and World’s End)

An early start takes us to the high-altitude Horton Plains plateau. We’ll hike through the silent, windswept grasslands to reach World’s End, where the world drops away nearly a kilometre beneath your feet. It is a powerful, humbling encounter with the island’s dramatic geography.

Day 08 - Nuwara Eliya / Ella / Udawalawe (The Most Scenic Train Journey from Nanu Oya to Ella, En-route sightseeing of Ravana Waterfall)

Board the iconic train for a journey through the clouds toward Ella. After taking in the mountain views, we visit the cascading Ravana Falls before descending into the warmer southern plains. By evening, we’ll be at the doorstep of the wild, ready for the savanna.

Day 09 - Udawalawe / Sinharaja (Morning Jeep Safari in Udawalawe National Park)

Wake up for a sunrise safari in Udawalawe, the best place on the island to see wild elephants in their natural herds. After watching these gentle giants roam the grasslands, we drive into the deep green of the Sinharaja Rainforest for a complete change of scenery.

Day 10 - Sinharaja (Explore Sinharaja Rainforest with a Naturalist) Spend the day under the prehistoric canopy of Sinharaja with a specialist naturalist.

This is a journey of discovery, finding rare birds, endemic plants, and hidden streams in the island’s last major tropical rainforest. It is an immersive “into the wild” experience for the true nature lover.

Day 11 - Sinharaja / Transfer to Galle / Explore Galle Dutch Fort & Old Town From the jungle to the sea

We head to the historic Galle Fort. We’ll wander the narrow streets of the old town, exploring the mixture of colonial architecture and modern boutique life. Walking the ramparts at sunset is the perfect way to soak in the heritage of the southern coast.

Day 12 - Day at leisure in Galle / Beach relaxation. Today is yours to simply "be."

Whether you choose to lounge on the golden sands nearby, explore the art galleries of the Fort, or find a quiet cafe with a view of the ocean, this day is designed for unhurried relaxation before you head home.

Day 13 - Transfer to Colombo / Departure from Sri Lanka

We make our way back to the capital for your final departure. Depending on your flight, we can stop for some last-minute shopping or a quick city walk, leaving you with a heart full of enchanting memories and the true spirit of the island.
