Wellness, Yoga & Mindfulness Retreat

This 14-day immersion is an artfully designed narrative for those seeking to step away from the noise and reconnect with their internal rhythm. Engineered as a “slow travel” experience, this retreat prioritizes restoration, moving from the quiet coastal lagoons to the mist-veiled peaks of the central highlands. Unlike a standard tour, this journey focuses on the “humanized” elements of healing combining traditional Ayurvedic wisdom, daily movement, and deep meditative practices in the island’s most secluded boutique sanctuaries. It is a curated path to total balance, where the landscape itself becomes a partner in your recovery

Nights

Day 01 - Arrival / Transfer to Southern Coast (Galle) / Evening beach relaxation / Herbal drink & short guided relaxation session / Overnight stay in Galle

Your retreat begins with a calming transition to the historic South. After a private transfer, we settle your energy with a traditional herbal welcome drink and a short guided relaxation session by the ocean. This is designed to help you shed the “noise” of travel and arrive fully in the present moment.

Day 02 - Coastal Mindfulness & Relaxation / Sunrise beach meditation session / Yoga session by the ocean / Visit Galle Fort / Optional Ayurvedic head massage / Sunset journaling by the sea

Wake up to the rhythm of the tide for a sunrise meditation. After an energising ocean-side yoga session, we visit the historic Galle Fort and practise “mindful walking” through its colonial streets. We end the day with a journaling session on the ramparts, capturing your intentions as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.

Day 03 - Transfer to Ella / Scenic drive to Ella (or optional train journey) / Check-in to wellness retreat centre / Evening restorative yoga session

We journey from the coast to the lush mountains of Ella. Upon checking into your dedicated wellness retreat, we practice restorative yoga—a slow-paced session focused on deep relaxation and “stillness” to align your body with the peaceful mountain energy.

Day 04 - Guided walk through tea estates / Tea meditation experience / Tea tasting sessions

Experience the sensory beauty of the highlands with a guided walk through emerald tea fields. We introduce a unique “tea meditation,” focusing on the scent, warmth, and flavour of the leaf, followed by a tasting session that connects you to the earth and the local heritage.

Day 05 - Sunrise hike to Little Adam’s Peak / Guided grounding meditation at summit / Evening Yin yoga for muscle relaxation

We climb Little Adam’s Peak at dawn to witness the first light breaking over the Ella Gap. At the summit, we practice a grounding meditation, feeling the stability of the rock beneath us. In the evening, a Yin yoga session helps release physical tension and quiet the mind.

Day 06 - Visit Dhowa Rock Temple / Guided loving-kindness meditation / Evening Ayurvedic body therapy

We visit the ancient Dhowa Rock Temple, home to a massive 2,000-year-old carved Buddha. Within these sacred grounds, we practice a “Metta” (loving-kindness) meditation. The day concludes with a full-body Ayurvedic therapy to promote deep physical and energetic healing.

Day 07 - Full day of noble silence / Guided journaling / Forest bathing experience

Today is dedicated to “noble silence.” By removing the need for speech, we turn the awareness inward. You will be guided through forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) in the surrounding woodlands, experiencing the healing power of the trees and the quiet “flow” of nature.

Day 08 - Short scenic train experience / Nature walks & silent reflection periods / Relaxation yoga & Yoga Nidra session

We take a short, scenic train ride, using the movement as a form of moving meditation. The day includes periods of silent reflection during nature walks, ending with Yoga Nidra—often called “yogic sleep” a state of conscious relaxation that deeply restores the nervous system.

Day 09 - Sunrise meditation / Closing circle & intention-setting ceremony / Traditional Sri Lankan wellness dinner

Our final morning in the Ella retreat starts with a communal sunrise meditation. We hold a closing circle to share insights and set intentions for carrying this “clarity” home. We celebrate the journey with a traditional wellness dinner made from organic, locally sourced ingredients.

Day 10 - Transfer to Nuwara Eliya / Scenic drive through tea country / Relaxation at Gregory Lake / Optional spa therapy / Overnight stay in cool-climate retreat hotel

We head higher into the mountains to the cool, misty air of Nuwara Eliya. Spend a relaxed afternoon by Gregory Lake, breathing in the crisp air. This transition to a cooler climate serves as a refreshing “reset” for the body, with optional spa therapies available to enhance the cooling effect.

Day 11 - Morning yoga overlooking tea hills / Visit Hakgala Botanical Garden / Nature-based mindfulness session

Start the day with yoga overlooking the terraced tea hills. We then visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens for a mindfulness session among rare flora and rose gardens. This day is about appreciating the delicate beauty and diversity of life in the high-altitude wilderness.

Day 12 - Beach Relaxation at Ahangama / Optional Beach yoga session / Koggala Lake fish relaxation therapies / Visit to Cinnamon Island

We return to the southern coast for a final “oceanic integration.” In Ahangama, you can enjoy a beach yoga session or visit the Koggala Lake for natural relaxation therapies. We’ll take a boat to Cinnamon Island to learn about the traditional healing properties of our most famous spice.

Day 13 - Transfer to Colombo / Optional city visit (Gangaramaya, Red Mosque) and Farewell group dinner

We return to the capital for a gentle re-entry into city life. You can choose to visit the serene Gangaramaya Temple or the vibrant Red Mosque. We conclude our retreat with a farewell group dinner, reflecting on our shared experiences and the “renewed energy” we’ve found.

Day 14 - Airport transfer / Departure with renewed energy and clarity

We provide a final transfer to the airport. You depart not just with memories, but also with a mindfulness toolkit and a deep sense of peace from the island of Serendib.
